Welcome to the Penn Tandoori.
Mr Ali and Mr Uddin began their journey in 1970 at The Grand Dilshad at a time when Wolverhampton was regarded as having one of the best nightlife in Britain. Having made a name for themselves serving the countless celebrities which attended the Grand Theatre, the duo felt it time to move out of the Inner city and open the first Indian Restaurant in the suburbs of Penn, taking their clientele along with them.
In 1990, Penn Tandoori was established. The quality of the food and efficient service which was synonymous with the duo was imbedded into the foundations of Penn Tandoori and till this day, this is what Penn Tandoori is renowned for.
With its rise in popularity year by year, there came a time when customers would offer to sit on upturned buckets just to enjoy the food, Mr Ali and Mr Uddin felt it was necessary to expand the Restaurant in order to accommodate the growing number of customers.
In 2008, Penn Tandoori underwent a complete makeover to bring it a fresh and contemporary look to fit in with changing tastes, whilst maintaining its warm friendly atmosphere.
Along with the change in decor, came the addition of a new member of management in the form of Jay; son and nephew of Mr Uddin and Mr Ali respectively. Jay’s fresh approach brought the restaurant into the 21st Century.
